PARATHOSI

January 20, 2024

With the blessing of His Eminence Archbishop Elpidophoros, the Youth Office is excited to announce that Parathosi will be held on January 20, 2024! We look forward to seeing all of you there to celebrate our rich Greek heritage with the youth of our District.

There are some updates with Parathosi the Youth Office would like to share! Please see the list below. We kindly ask that you forward it to the proper channels that would benefit from this information.

  1. Many parishes have already expressed their intent to participate in this year’s Parathosi, which is fantastic! As we are beginning to receive registration forms, please have your dance instructors send the below completed forms to Parathosi@goarch.org. As a reminder, the following two forms are needed to complete registration (these can be found on Parathosi.com):

a. Participation Registration Form

b. Directors Registration Packet

Please have these above two forms filled out for the board as soon as possible! Checks for registration should be sent directly to the Archdiocese with a note that it is for the Youth Office. Checks should be made payable to the Archdiocesan District with “Parathosi 2024” in the memo.

  1. Please also have your dance instructors fill in the contact information form found HERE. This will make it easier to discuss direct questions they might have and assist the board in building a contact list for future events.
  2. Our hotel block in the Long Island Marriot is officially open! For those families looking to stay at the hotel, they can book by clicking HERE. This block closes on January 5th so please have them book before then.
  3. The Parathosi board and Luv Michael are working hand in hand to provide opportunities for our youth to raise money for their teams while helping a fantastic cause. Below is a message from the Luv Michael team:

We want to share a simple and profitable way for your dance group to raise money and help people with autism. Luv Michael, a charity started by an Orthodox family that supports individuals with autism, has a fundraising program. By participating, your dance troupe members can earn service hours, promote autism acceptance, and raise funds for your group. We are meeting on Monday, November 27, with Luv Michael to explain the program. You can join the meeting on Zoom at this link: https://us02web.zoom.us/j/4917272118 . If you cannot make it, you can schedule an individual meeting with a Luv Michael representative using this calendar link: HERE

Greek Orthodox Archdiocesan District

E: dino@goarch.org

P: 212-774-0264

PARATHOSI will allow the Archdiocesan District to come together to celebrate our Hellenic culture and Heritage. Groups from around the Direct Archdiocesan District will be able to showcase their knowledge of traditional dances, songs, and costumes in the spirit of Orthodox fellowship.

PARATHOSI's main goal is that our youth will be brought closer to the history and style of our dances, but also to the realization that there is far more that unites us than separates us.  Every participant, regardless of team will have the opportunity to experience the pride of being a part of this very special event and how important our heritage is to us.

To this end, PARATHOSI's planning committee is extremely excited about this wonderful event in our District.  Should you have any questions, please feel free to reach out to one of our committee members at parathosi@goarch.org.

GREEK DANCE JUDGING

It should be noted that the judging criteria can be found in the Director’s packet on the website.  Please have your dance instructors look through this packet thoroughly as it contains all necessary information to best prepare your dance troupe.

It is on behalf of the board that I thank you all for your dedication and support of this ministry.

If there are any other questions regarding Parathosi, please email us directly at parathosi@goarch.org.
